How To Clean Your Glasses
New spectacles can be an expensive purchase, so in order to get the most out of them, we recommend some actions you can take to clean and care for your glasses.
Do clean your lenses regularly with the spray and micro fibre cloth which we have provided. Don’t forget to launder your cloth regularly as outlined on the packaging. Carry them with you at all times.
Do use the case which we have provided to store your spectacles as this is the size most appropriate for them.
Do use both hands to put your spectacles on and take them off.
Don’t wipe lenses with a tissue, paper towel or clothing. They can have a rough surface.
Don’t use ammonia, bleach, vinegar or window cleaner, which can harm lenses and their coatings.
Don’t put unprotected spectacles in a purse, pocket or bag.
Don’t place your spectacles on a sink or vanity top. Sprays and cosmetics can soil lenses and hairspray or perfume can damage the surface of your lenses.
Don’t leave spectacles in a hot car. Especially avoid the top of the dashboard. The windscreen acts like a magnifying lens and will distort your spectacles.
Following these simple tips will help prolong the lifetime of your spectacles.
When you get glasses from us, we’ll give you refillable cleaning solution and lense cloths. Book an appointment and come and have a chat.
Care For Your Glasses Like You’d Care For Your Dog
In his February 2022 Newsletter, Optometrist Stuart Henderson said:
In the past we have given patients advice, in great detail, about how to care for their new spectacles. However, I have a friend with a practice in Manchester, who advises his patients to treat their spectacles as they would their dog so I thought I’d share it with you…
So, if you wouldn’t do it to your dog …. don’t do it to your spectacles!
